This prayer card includes a prayer to ask the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
About the Design:
The watercolor artwork on this card depicts the Immaculate Heart of Mary, where St. Luke writes she "kept all these things" (Luke 2:51) she learned as mother of Jesus. It represents her love for Christ and the World, even as it is pierced with a sword (from Simeon's prophecy in Luke 2:35). The image of burning with love, surrounded by roses, is similar to the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. These two images are very often seen together, especially due to their inclusion on the back of the Miraculous Medal, given to St. Catherine Laboure in the mid-19th century.
